Sea Patrol

M, Drama, Series

Life on board the HMAS Hammersley has to be more interesting than an office job. Nine to five it ain't. It's these sailor's task to protect Australia's watery borders from the incursions of smugglers, drugs and illegal immigrants, not to mention pirates (oh, you thought they were so last century?). And they must also deal with the pressure placed on their personal lives by their full-on, 24/7 profession. Lisa McCune, Ian Stenlake

So disapointed: I thought the show got off to a pretty good start in the first series, then they must have employed a writer from bold and the beautifull (not that i watch that either). Would have been nice if they could have followed the format of patrol boad...

As a former serving member of the R.A.N who served on Patrol Boats for a number of years and who had engaged in numerous boardings of illegal/suspicious vessels, I find this show to be a gross mis-representation of what really goes on. Back in the early 80's there was a show on the ABC called "Patrol Boat" which I was fortunate to have been one of the crew members of the then Fremantle Class Patrol Boats whenever the episode required filming at Sea. This show "Patrol Boat" was an accurate representation of true navy life. As for Sea Patrol, I am afraid that like most television shows these days, it has become more of a soap opera than an action series. I have stopped watching the show out of disgust.

This show had the potential to be a fantastic vehicle to show how great our military forces are, but instead it makes them look like a bunch of complete morons. How many times do they have to be taken hostage by anyone who has a boat? Whoever the producers of this show are they should be ashamed of themselves, our military forces are amongst the top in the world and they do not deserve to be portrayed in such demeaning way. I do not have anything to do with our military forces, but am still disgusted with the way that our Military are presented in this trash. Mark

What a load of fiction this is - nothing to reflect the NAVY at all- Tonight there is a member of the crew of the patrol boat going undercover to break a sex ring - yeah right - talk about fantasy land - it is just not believable! a member of the crew looking for a baby's mother? yeah right, just the sort of thing the navy does? how far off the planet is this fantasy.
