It's all about finding the best surfer on the planet in any given year and the way to do that is to hold a series of surfing competitions tackling the biggest, the most complex and the hardest waves in the world. The Association of Surfing Professionals keeps score using a point system which ultimately reveals the winner. 44 men and 16 women only can take part.
