Advanced Searching

With new advanced searching options available, IceTV will continuously search the upcoming TV broadcast schedule for your favourite shows like never before. Search for TV shows more accurately by specifying what 'keywords' or search terms you want IceTV to look for in the particular fields you want. Search for matching words in the series name, episode name, description, actors, directors, genres, and year of production, and even specify whether the shows should be repeats or not.

With advanced searching, don't be afraid to get specific in order to find just the shows you want on digital free-to-air TV.

Examples of Simple Searches:

• Find shows that contain the word 'golf' anywhere in the title, description, actors, directors, or genres, but don't contain the word 'night': (note the use of the minus sign (-) to specify words or phrases to exclude)
  golf -night
• Find shows that contain the name Ricky Gervais anywhere in the title, description, actors, or directors, but don't contain the name Adam Sandler: (note the use of double-quotes to specify a phrase)
  "ricky gervais" -"adam sandler"

Examples of Advanced Searches:

• Find animated shows made in 2009: (the full list of genres is available on the main TV Guide page of Interactive)
  genre:animation year:2009
• Find movies made in the 1990s:
  genre:movie after:1989 before:2000
• Find only new movies with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as actors:
  repeat:no actor:"angelina jolie" actor:"brad pitt"
• Find shows with "Simpsons" in the series or episode name, that include "Krusty" in the description, and that don't contain the word "Flanders" anywhere:
  title:simpsons desc:krusty -flanders

Examples of Exact Match Searches:

When you know the exact series or episode name, you can use the plus sign (+) to specify an exact match.

• Find the show "V": (note the use of the plus sign (+) to specify an exact match, in this case on the series name)
  +series:v
• Find the show "V", but not the episode "One": (note the use of the minus sign and plus sign together to indicate an exact match to exclude)
  +series:v -+episode:one
