Their home is damaged enough that they move to the Aidensfield Arms till repairs are effected; but bad news results when Ruth returns home one evening. An artist rents a cottage and displays interest in Greengrass and his car parts; so Greengrass and Bernie Scripps take up an interest in modern art. Meantime Nick and Jo have made a life-changing decision.
